[EN] Dear members and friends of ipernity! 1) The removal of more than 200 abandoned member accounts with group administrator functions, mentioned in the discussion about the last Newsflash, caused many administrations to be automatically reassigned by the ipernity software. If you don't want to take over such a task, you can leave the group and join it again immediately. 2) This action, as well as our offer to reorganize abandoned groups, which has already been claimed more than thirt…

[EN] Dear members and friends of ipernity! 1) The number of new club accounts created in the first 8 months of 2019, now +74, already exceeds the total number of new club accounts created in 2018 (+62). The number of active club accounts even increased by +82 from 1,298 to 1,380 since the beginning of the year. This makes us very optimistic. 2) In addition, members of the VIEW Fotocommunity are currently interested in finding a new home for their photo hobby due to the closure of…

  • Oh I've certainly been honoured these last 24 hours!!!

It looked as if she was deciding whether she could jump up!
Last night, just after I spoke to Mickey - around 10pm, I was sitting on my couch, with Pippin determined to lie right across my keyboard!! when he suddenly sat up and stared out of the lounge window! Now when a cat suddenly stops what they're doing and just stares at something you can't see or hear - it really spooks you. I looked at the lounge window, which was partly open so Pippin could come and go as he likes as well as letting in some lovely fresh air, when I was suddenly aware of a sha…

  • I walked up the drive and guess what!!!!!

I left some apples on the tree for another time!!
The sun had been out for most of the day and so I decided to have a walk up the drive. I'd fixed my rollator, some nuts and bolts had fallen off it, and I had had to wait for replacements to come. So eventually I managed to get the rollator out of the kitchen and outside. It's wider than the space I have just outside the back door, so I have to fold it up and then lift it to move it out. It's a very heavy thing - all metal, so I was well pooped by the end of it. Still, two plastic carrier bags i…

  • Fred can fly!!!

Yep - even his parents didn't want to bother to come down
This afternoon Fred decided to have a little fly around, I thought I'd seen him earlier on. Well I was surprised nonetheless when I saw him flapping his wings and landing on the garden bench. He carried on flapping for a while, unfortunately it was the time it took me to get my camera ready, then he settled down just as I got my camera into focus!!!! Typical eh? Well he stood there for some time, and started calling out to his parents.... There was no response so he called out again....…

  • Mandi has told me that there are big fires near her

View of the smoke billowing from the fire
I know it's a yearly thing in that area, as it is in many areas where the temperatures are high and rainfall is scarce at this time of year, but there are fires breaking out over there. Mandi sent me a couple of photos from the beach showing where one of the fires are and it was where we'd said how nice it would be to have a house there, with the views of the sea and islands.... There was a helicopter getting water from the sea and then dropping it onto the flames, this is what the area…

  • Oh no not again!!!!!!!

He fell off the roof last night
I think I told you all about how my neighbours had paid for someone to come and put up spikes to deter the seagulls from nesting on my roof inbetween my chimneys. Well, I hope they ask for their money back because the seagulls have interwoven their nest inbetween the spikes and have had chicks!!!!!! For some unaccountable reason, seagulls are a protected species and so we can't move them physically, so we have to persuade them to leave. Considering how many seagulls there are in the UK, I cer…

  • Happy 4th July to my American friends

May I wish all my American friends a very happy 4th July. Enjoy and celebrate folks

  • I've been lucky with my helper and my new hair

How lucky am I? They are clearing my driveway
Hiya folks, I have been so lucky today with my helper, Emily. Firstly she turned up with her middle daughter, Poppy, as she was on "work experience" week, and as her mum has her own business, she'd been roped in to helping her with her work because she couldn't think of anything else!!!! So Emily turned up with Poppy and their work was done in an incredibly short time. Then Emily suggested they weeded the driveway - or at least as much as they could. I was delighted because the driveway is so…

  • Part 2 of the on-going saga !!!!

    Looking down over Bodrum castle
Are you ready for this? I suggest you have a cup of coffee and be in a comfy chair while you read this - if you don't think you can wade through a lot of drivel - then you are excused!!!!! Where was I? - Oh yes - I'd had an ice-cream then we went back to Mandi's house to finalise the packing and to go to the airport. As I walked up the driveway, I was welcomed by the garden cats - I miss them very much - they were so sweet and loving. Well after a quick change of clothes and finishing pack…

  • My time here is fast coming to an end....

    View from my bedroom window
Oh I've only got 2 days left of my time here in Turkey. Five weeks have just flown by. There were so many things we wanted to do, go on a boat trip, go to Pammukale (salt lakes), visit Kos - instead we were faced with very unusually hot days with very high humidity. This meant that we were too exhausted to do much. Mornings were spent indoors, then in the afternoons we ventured out to the pool to cool down. It was such an effort to even walk down their driveway to collect the car, that I had to…

  • Turkey is full of colour this time of year.....

This gorgeous plant is growing up all walls of houses
Well I should say, Turkey is full of colour most of the year. Bouganvillea is like a weed here, it grows everywhere, up walls, winding its way up trees etc. It is a weed I'd love to have in my garden, I can tell you. The variety of colours is just amazing. I think I've already mentioned the different colours, white, pale pink, deep pink, lilac, deep purple and in rare occurrences, orange!!! We went for a drive around yesterday, and the roads were lined with loads of jasmine trees/bushes. Oh…

  • A very surprising sunset...

The colours were changing so rapidly
Well today was a sort of half and half day weatherwise. This morning it was beautiful blue sky and so Mandi and I decided to go to the hotel pool for a swim and a bit of a sunbathe. As it had rained for about 5 minutes last night, and there is a lot of dust around, when Mandi went to collect her car (it being dark blue) you can imagine how awful it looked. It was if it had been in a sand hill. Being dark blue, of course it looked worse. I know how Mandi feels about driving around in a dirty car,…

  • Yesterday was a day I don't want to have again....

Sorry I didn't come on here yesterday folks and didn't comment on any of your blogs and pictures but I was quietly trying to gather my threads of sanity really............ My daughter's friend Sharon, who is coming with me to Turkey, [but she's only staying a week, while I'm there for 3 weeks], came over to [a] cut my hair and [b] finalise my details for the travel and help me sort everything out.......... Well if she hadn't been here, I'd have just crawled into a feotal position and cried…

  • BRAIN SURGEON APPOINT THURS 17TH JANUARY~ UPDATE FROM PAM

[EN] Jan 2019 -- Pam's Checkup Today was the second follow up appointment with Dr. Cheema, my brain surgeon. It did not go as I expected. After the first appointment I expected us to continue the discussion of targeted radiation to shrink the AVM en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arteriovenous_malformation in my brain and to start scheduling the procedure. However, after reviewing the MRI & MRA, he abruptly decided to postpone all treatment until September. He was unable to provide any inform…

  • A Christmas wish to you all

It is rather laden with baubles but it's worth it
Well the tree is up and the presents wrapped. I have been very fortunate to have the tree decorated by Emily. I wrapped the presents up, thankfully I can still do that. There are presents for my neighbours and for the family. As I'm not going anywhere on Christmas day, I have an extra day to prepare the meal for Boxing Day. I'm going to try and make mini lemon meringue pies. As I'm on my own, I don't make normal sized pies, because they tend to hang around for days or else I end up…

  • Preserving History

    small IMGP3177
If you're like most people on this site, I suspect you take a few thousand photos yearly. I know I do. I'll be honest, a great many of mine are hardly worthy of a second look, but they accumulate in my computer's hard disk. Maybe a hundred or so yearly warrant that second look. Some, though even fewer, deserve 'historical retention' (for want of a better term). Let's work on the thought that the image of a great sunset, general landscape or flower isn't going to have 'historical retent…
