I know it's a yearly thing in that area, as it is in many areas where the temperatures are high and rainfall is scarce at this time of year, but there are fires breaking out over there.

Mandi sent me a couple of photos from the beach showing where one of the fires are and it was where we'd said how nice it would be to have a house there, with the views of the sea and islands....

There was a helicopter getting water from the sea and then dropping it onto the flames, this is what the area looks like - or should I say it looked like....

I do hope those homes aren't damaged and that people who live there are okay.

This is a picture from the Council who have shown some firefighters trying to prevent the fire from spreading.

There was another fire but much bigger just outside Bodrum. There are lots of forests there, which at this time of year are like a tinder box. All it takes is a piece of broken glass, or a stray cigarette thrown out of a passing car and whoosh..... it goes up..

This is what the forests looked like three weeks ago....

and these pictures were taken yesterday...

I do hope that they soon get these fires under control and that a lot of the trees and homes are spared. Apparently there are 10 fire crews and 3 helicopters at the Bodrum site.

There was another fire about 30 miles away and there are about 20 people missing, hopefully they're safe and well.
