George Morgan released "A Roomful Of Roses" (Tim Spencer) in 1949. The song was given to him by the writer, a member of The Sons Of the Pioneers". The single reached number four on the Country chart and top thirty pop. George is father to successful country singer Lorrie Morgan.
Sammy Kaye (Zarnocay) had the pop hit with vocalists Don Cornell and The Kaydets (various band members). In 1949 this peaked at number two on Billboard.
Mickey Gilley's 1974 number one Country cover "Room Full Of Roses" was an accident. In 1973 he recorded this for his own Astro label and had it released as the B side of "She Called Me Baby". Eventually this was the first of many number one Country hits for Mickey.
