Band leader James Last co-composed "Happy Heart" (Hans Last - Jackie Rae). Apparently he had thrown away the tune when it was found by his wife who asked him to record it. The late James Last was the most commercially successful bandleader of the second half of the twentieth century.
"Happy Heart" was recorded by both Petula Clark and Andy Williams at almost the same time in 1969. Former child star and international recording success, Petula's version hit number twelve on the Billboard Easy Listening chart.
Avid golfer and confirmed television star Andy Williams went to twenty-two on the Top One Hundred and topped the Easy Listening chart with his Jerry Fuller produced cover.
