Here is a cut from the soundtrack of the 1967 film "A Countess From Hong Kong" written, directed and produced by Charlie Chaplin. It's his composition "(Love) This Is My Song". The movie starred Marlon Brando and Sophia Loren but still failed at the box office. Mr. Chaplin wanted Al Jolson to sing the song but Al had left his Jolson body by that time. Second choice was Petula Clark who had a home near Charlie's. She and her "people" didn't especially like the song so it showed up in the motion picture strictly as an instrumental.

Petula Clark was not enamoured with the dated lyrics but eventually recorded "This Is My Song" which she thought was strictly an album track. She attempted to block it's release as a single and suddenly found herself with a number one hit in the U.K. and several European countries. The title of her album "Colour My World" was even changed to "This Is My Song"! The tune was edited for American release and peaked at number three on Billboard.
