In November of 1964 The Wall of Sound was more than evident when The Ronettes (Ronnie Spector nee Bennett, Estelle Bennett and Nedra Tailey) released "Walkin' in the Rain" (Mann - Weil - Spector). Recorded in one take with Veronica on lead the single peaked at number twenty-three on Billboard.
"Wax Museum Volume One" contains Jay and the Americans (Jay Blatt aka Black, Howard Kirschenbaum aka Kane, Kenny Rosenberg aka Vance, Sandy Yaguda aka Deanne and Marty Kupersmith aka Sanders) last top forty hit with this cover of "Walkin' in the Rain". This reached the top twenty in 1969.
