I started Dishonored these past few weeks, and I'm enjoying it so far. The paths for completing a mission seem to be opening up which is nice. They also give you the choice of being able to complete the mission as stealthily as possible, or do the whole full frontal assault thing. I find the latter harder to do, as you can get ganged up on pretty quickly, plus I went in with the desire to be sneaky. The trouble is, I suck at being sneaky.

So, I try to get through areas undetected, and I'm successful about 65% - 75% of the time, but I think I'm getting better. It's usually the last stretch in a section that always gets me. But thankfully, being seen doesn't mean the game is over. You can try to fight it out, or try to run and hide so you can give it another go.

The trouble I'm really having is that being sneaky is time consuming, and it's hard to have a quick sitting to play and get very far. You of course move slowly as your skulk around, and it takes patience to watch all the patrol patterns and scope the area trying to determine the best path. This game feels like it would be better if I could sit for 2 hours straight and play, but unfortunately it's rarely the case I can do that. Usually my sessions are more like 30 - 45 mins.

Overall though it's a good experience. I find it definitely promotes the stealth aspect which can be a nice change of pace. There's also lots to explore as you try to figure out how to get into certain buildings to find alternate routes or bonus items to use in the game. I also find there's an emphasis on using the special powers you have versus the weapons you carry. I'm not blown away by it yet, but I am having fun, and suspect I'll continue to do so.
