More Flexibility With The Format

The new Photoshop version 2024 offers an AI-based refill option. This makes it easy to supplement pictures laterally. It isn't therefore any longer mandatory that a source picture for the homepage is in 16:9 format. Source pictures in other formats can easily be adapted to the required diameters [during finalisation].
Such extended pictures can no longer be classified as documentary, but it is also not the aim of the homepage to show authentic original pictures. The purpose of the homepage is advertising. For this purpose, dedicated amendments are permissible.
Due to this new possibility, from now on pictures can also be used that would fit well in terms of the motif, but were previously ruled out for format reasons.

This makes it possible to use pictures that were previously unsuitable because of such faults. This function can also be used to better place picture elements if necessary (see the small red buoy in the example).

Because there was misunderstanding, the title of this thread has been amended (previously: 'New format requirements') as well as the 3rd sentence.
In addition, the following brief instructions have been added for the use of thenew online tool Adobe Firefly. This is a free and very easy to use alternative to Photoshop.
1. Open Adobe Firefly and choose: Generative Filling
2. Drag your prepared image from your own directory over to Adobe Firefly
3. Choose 'Paste'
4. Brush out the left part, describe what you want the AI to do, press 'generate'
5. Select the result which fits best, press 'download'
If you don't like the result well enough, press the + button so that the software generates more variations.

Those who do not have Photoshop on their own computer can thus also use these options online to optimize their photos for this group.
After my own first tests a few days ago, I can say that Adobe Firefly is quite easy to use.

Ich hatte die Mitteilung so verstanden, dass die Formatangleichung ("extended") erst dann vorgenommen wird, wenn ein vorgeschlagenes Foto für die Frontpage akzeptiert wurde.
Bergfex club has replied to Heidiho clubIn diesem Fall geht es übrigens ganz ohne Photoshop! Wie bereits in einem anderen Kommentar erwähnt wurde, gibt es das kostenlose Adobe Firefly. Der Umgang damit ist kinderleicht!
Ich habe den Post oben entsprechend ergänzt.
Schritt 1: Menü "Bild > Arbeitsfläche erweitern > auf der erwünschten Bildseite die Erweiterungspixel anzeigen = Ergebnis ein Bild im neuen Format mit einer erweiterten weißen Leerfläche.
Schritt 2: Leerfläche markieren und ein wenig vom Foto mit markieren
Schritt 3: Kontextmenü > Fläche füllen > inhaltsensitive Füllung = Ergebnis Himmel, Wiese oder Wasser wird ergänzt, bzw. eine Boje verschwindet auch mal passend.
Teilweise musste es in Teilschritten gemacht werden, um ein vernünftiges Ergebnis zu erhalten.
Der Unterschied zur KI ist, dass die auch noch etwas dazu erfinden kann und komplexere Änderungen vorgenommen werden. Meine bisherigen Tests ist dieser Prozess vom Ergebnis her wenig steuerbar und die KI macht irgendwie, was sie gerne tut und auch die Auflösung mit dazu passende Auflösung des eingefügten Motivs wird nicht perfekt.
Ich finde man hätte sich zeitsparenden Bearbeitungs-Routinen in der Programmbedienung konzentrieren sollen: "wie erweitere das Bild nach links auf Format 16:9 mit passend zum vorhandenen Hintergrund ohne inhaltliche Änderungen und lass das Boot auf der rechten Seite. Markiere die roten Ruderer mit Paddel und helle Rot auf. Halt, nicht soviel mach das dezenter, aber mit mehr Kontrast. Das würde doch einige Klicks sparen und würde mehr Praxisbezug haben als Fantasy-Bilder, mit denen zumindest ich wenig anfangen kann. Aber vielleicht ist es gut die Werbeagenturen, die sich mit künstlichen Bildern künftig die Entlohnung professioneller Fotografen ersparen werden. Aber solche Diskussion gehört eigentlich an dieser Stelle hier nicht zum Thema.

Ein Beispiel:
Ein Fotofreund aus unserem lokalen Fotoclub Camerclub St. Johann in Tirol hatte für unsere große öffentliche Fotoshow im September 2023 viele Hochformatbilder eingereicht. Meine Aufgabe war, daraus einen 16:9 HDTV-Clip zu machen. Mit Hilfe von 'Adobe Firefly' ging das ziemlich mühelos:
Die Ki hat der Eselskörper komplett und naturgetreu ergänzt, die Weide verbreitert und den Zaun ergänzt. (Die starke Vignettierung wurde erst nachträglich drübergelegt, auf Wunsch des Auftraggebers.)
Hier hat die KI das Ursprungsbild beiderseits realistisch erweitert, ohne dass ich beschreiben musst, was ich wünschte. Es war auf Anhieb perfekt.
Auch bei diesem Bild hat die KI mit "eigenem Hintergrundwissen" sehr realistisch ergänzt, was fehlte.

(Der Clip ist nur 3 Minuten lang. Alle Ausgangsbilder waren hochkant oder quadratisch. Ohne KI-Unterstützung hätte ich den Clip nicht produzieren können.)
* ઇઉ * club has replied to Leo W clubThe important thing is that members who have little or no experience with image editing, photos with an attractive eye-catcher that are not in the right format and have distracting elements in key areas, can easily use AI to adapt such photos themselves to the requirements of photos for this group.
Another advantage is that AI photo editors, such as Adobe Firefly, are in some cases not only free and very easy to use. They can be used by anyone who doesn't have or doesn't want to install a comparable image editing program on their computer.
In this light, the offering of AI-based image processing is a useful tool and a gift to many, I think.
