Schön, daß Du in einer Gegend lebst, in der es mehr Hoffnung dafür gibt, als bei uns in den Großstädten. Hallo Q2

What do they feed on? they won't be very popular if it's cultivated crops, with the milder Winters there isn't a shortage of insects wanting to eat my vegetables :((

Great to see them, the fall in insect numbers is indeed a concern.

Beautifully captured Isabel............such beautiful caterpillars (I just looked them up and the Moth is very attractive too). I really like the detail in this shot, especially when viewed large.

It seems unusual that they would be in such a large group..........wouldn't that make them very susceptible to predation?

They are always gathering like that... and about predators maybe they wait for them to be at moth stage, these "hair" might not be very suitable to digest...

A beautiful bustle - wonderfully captured.
I'm always happy when I see insects.
I don't really like our Rhine gnats, although they are useful as fish food.

Here mosquitos are often captured by geckos, and I also protect geckos...
