Entrance door to the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong

Wangdue Phodrang Dzong was founded by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1638. It is located on top of a high ridge between the Puna Tsang Chhu and the Tang Chhu, offering a spectacular view.

A terrible fire destroyed the Dzong on 24th of June 2012
