Whitetip Shark

Whitetip Shark
Seen during the dive at the "Elephant Head" diving site by the island group Similan.
Although this kind of shark is known as aggressive and dangerous to human, we divers much enjoy seeing this fish. Generally they are very shy and swim away if you come to close. Having patience to wait some minutes the sharks will return and come closer to us divers.
There aren't many sharks in Thai waters anymore. Fisher catch them out cut away their fins and throw them alive overboard back into the sea. Millions of sharks die every year by this way, killed for the Chines dishes of shark fin soup and others.
