Separation Anxiety..... Where are they ?

Separation Anxiety..... Where are they ?
Waiting at the school gate and very worried that it is missing out on the fun.

This doesn’t look like a Happy Dog for HFF it was howling in misery and distress as the family went out of view to collect their child from School. There would be a happy ending ... as there is every day when they are reunited.

Xata, ROL/Photo, Ecobird, Erika+Manfred and 6 other people have particularly liked this photo

The poor dear! Being tied to a fence as my "pack" walks out of sight would terrify me too!
I will probably attract a lot of criticism, but I do think that public safety regulations often fail to take into account the stress and downright suffering they impose on animals (think of muzzling, for example: ever thought how a human would feel if, for no discernible reason, your face was imprisoned in a contraption that makes it difficult to do all the things a dog needs to do with its mouth, from breathing well to sticking their tongue out to cool off?) I am not sure what changes could be made to make regulations more humane to the animal, but it seems pretty obvious that whomever came up with them had zero consideration for the animal's feelings. In most instances, exceptions are made for guide dogs for the visually impaired, for example, because in that case banning the animal would amount to banning the human, which is of course unthinkable. But why is it perfectly "thinkable" to cause the animal to be stressed and terrified? With all our supposed superior intelligence, can we not find ways to ensure public safety without mistreating animals?
Thank you, Colin, for posting this image. It tells the story of what "no dogs allowed" means for the animal very well. Sorry for the long comment, but it stirred a chord in me.

That's OK. This dog is not learning that they only go out of sight for 5 minutes max- it howls everyday. No surprise that the dog is not allowed on the school playground though.

Yes, I gathered that from your description. And I guess the family could leave one member with the dog while the others go collect the kids.
Great photo, anyways, Colin, it does what we are always told we should do in our photos: tell a story!

Why bother taking the dog, just as bad as people taking their dog to the shops and leaving it in the car while they shop. If this is the only time the dog gets a walk, perhaps they should rethink about having a dog.
