The bright reflection does take the attention away from the hands - but it's a powerful shot, and perhaps that's a good, unconventional way of making the photo more interesting.

Thanks, Bob. It was the texture and reflection of the wet table that attracted me, and the hand gave it a nice background.

I'm voting for the sepia. It seems more substantial, and the monochrome emphasizes the composition. My eyes went from the hands to the bright patch to the water to the wood grain and down through the entire view.
