(if I have to think for more than a minute to come up with a clever title it's not worth it ... feel free to make suggestions, though.)

Obviously it's a spaceship landed by very small aliens. A teeny-tiny Michael Rennie will pop out at any moment.

Michael Rennie. Had to look that one up. Oh yes. We shall be peaceful because robots will rule us. How true.

Just what McLuhan feared. Actually, he was afraid we'd stop using our intellect and defer to electronic technology. I've been to five or six presentations about business analytics over the last few years and that's what IBM is promoting -- you can perform and interpret statistical analysis without knowing anything about it!. And then they show the results of what seems to be a multiple linear regression analysis in which no one's been concerned about multicollinearity. We are living in the final days.

Not sure I'm concerned about multicollinearity either, but that's probably just my ignorance talking. The proper balance of humanity and technology is forever being negotiated. Robots will be doing surgery soon, but the judgement calls will still have to done by humans. Our minds are brilliant yet fallible. It's the best of times, it's the worst of times. You and I are too old to see the end of it, and that may be a good thing.
