Brilliant color, and good placement of the flower. I'm rather partial to nasturtiums - not sure why we aren't growing any (when growing starts again.)

Excellent detail, no glare, lots of orange. The nasturtium really pops against the soft green background, which also has details for tension.

I will admit that I'm not a fan of nasturtiums -- they grow like weeds here and in the park and at some point in their cycle emit a not altogether pleasant smell. But I must admit that close-up there's more to them than met this passersby eye.
I'm also learning that shooting bright color macros is best done in good light but outside of direct sun which will typically blow out the color.

Thanks fr the tip, Sarah. Speaking of weeds, there's a campaign in Toronto and elsewhere to plant milkweed. We're on the monarch butterflies' migration path. Their numbers are the lowest ever, in part because Roundup is killing all the milkweed, which is where they lay their eggs (the caterpillars eat the milkweed).

That's interesting. Here, everyone is planting "bee-friendly" plants like lavender to keep the local bee population happy and thriving (if you even have a chance, watch the documentary "More than Honey" by Swiss director Markus Imhoof, it's quite the eye opener, should have won the Oscar it was nominated for.)
