I've never managed to do that in Japan on any of my 21 visits, but it happens daily in my garden with our big Garden spiders.

Yes they are beautifully coloured. I have nothing against Spiders when they are harmless as these are.

I never do anything to them either. We don't have Red Backs or Funnel Webs here. None of the Spiders in Japan are venomous, just huge and very colourful.

The problem with Garden spiders is that they place their webs right where people walk, unpleasant to get a face full but that's life.
Ha ha, I can see you running, did the same with three other guys in Pakistan when we entered a small windowless hut and noticed a Cobra poised in the opposite corner.
