the star of tasmania figurehead

figurehead of the wool ship built in 1856 at aberdeen at the alexander hall shipyard; after only 12 years of travelling to australia and new zealand from britain, the cargo ship was wrecked on the south island, two passenger children and two seamen dying. the figurehead ended up in a hedge until rediscovered in the mid c20. she is now in the maritime museum at aberdeen .
