christ the king, gordon square, london
built on a cathedral scale for the irvingite catholic apostolic church in 1853, the nave was never finished, ending in a small triple porch and temporary brick wall as can be seen here , and the 300 ft. spire failed to materialise either. however, what raphael brandon did build is spectacle enough, if somewhat lacking in the originality shown by later goths, being a fair copy of a mid c13 english greater church.
