christ the king, gordon square, london
vesica over entry arch at west end of christ the king, built on a cathedral scale for the irvingite catholic apostolic church in 1853, the nave was never finished, ending in a small triple porch and temporary brick wall, and the 300 ft. spire failed to materialise either. however, what raphael brandon did build is spectacle enough, if somewhat lacking in the originality shown by later goths, being a fair copy of a mid c13 english greater church.
