Leven Walkway

Leven Walkway
The 4 Engelhardt lifeboats, the 'Titanic' carried, were built in the R. McAlister yard (Sandpoint Marina is now built on the site), which was situated on the right bank of the River Leven in Dumbarton.

'Englehardt collapsible lifeboat C' rescued Joseph Bruce Ismay, the President of the White Star Line. I thought it was 'women and children first'.

Due to the Salvage Laws of Scotland, it is a complicated and expensive process to take this, or any other, wreck from the river. Thanks for your very kind comment, David. Cheers, Joe
