Tram, Summerlee, Coatbridge

Tram, Summerlee, Coatbridge
In the late 1980s, the Summerlee Transport Group (STG) was formed, in order to support the maintenance and operation of the tramway. The original tramway used to terminate only 300 yards from the entrance at the timber shed, before the extension of the Gartsherrie Branch canal bridge and thence towards the Miners' Cottages. Quoted from Wikipedia.

Thanks for your great comment, Roger. I have been down the mine referred to on the tram's destination board. I have been down it about three or four times. Cheers, Joe

I know it's not the same but as soon as I saw this it brought back memories of the trolleybuses my gran used to take me on when we were on holiday in Bournemouth! Long gone now of course. A superb shot Joe and very suited to b&w. Cheers, Rosa.

I can remember the trolley buses in Glasgow. They were nicknamed 'The Silent Death'. LOL. Thanks for your very kind comment, Rosa. Cheers, Joe

Thanks for your very kind comment, Rod. This is a former Düsseldorf tram, which is used here because it has wheelchair access. Cheers, Joe
