REY BREAD MIX (makes one loaf)

. Grease a small bread loaf tin (approx. 9"x5"x2")
. Shake the packet so that the flour loosens from the bottom
. Pour 600 ml/20 oz. water (45ºC/113ºF) directly into the packet
. Hold tight around the top of the packet. Shake vigorously for 45 sec.
. Empty the dough into the bread tin
. Leave to rise for 45 min.
. Bake in the bottom of the oven at 200ºC (400ºF) for approx. 60 min.

my biggest problem is my oven haven't got temperature meter. i;m not skilled enough to check if everything is well cooked.
well i'm not back because i haven't been away ;) well nail might be back, but i hope coward won't be.

You don't need a temperature meter, just knock on the bread and when it sounds hollow it' s ready :-)) So you must come up with another excuse.

You're not a coward.....you recently proved that :-)) ...but I miss "The Coward"

Tja als je alleen maar water hoeft toe te voegen en even met het pak te schudden en het brood vanzelf (snel) rijst en bakt vraag ik mij toch af wat er allemaal aan toevoegingen inzit en of dat allemaal wel even gezond is. :-))

I liked this bread until I got to the middle of the loaf. That's where I discovered the batter had not been completely mixed. I am probably to blame, but I'm sure I am not the only to have had this problem. I am going to try one more loaf and plan on mixing the dough while it is still in the ‘packet’ (which is actually a carton i.e. milk carton type). My suggestion, perhaps the directions at the very least should say, ‘be sure flour and water are completely mixed’, because what is ‘shake vigorously’ can be interpreted differently, don’t you agree? And yes it is very heavy bread, I’m glad to read that, because I thought maybe I had something wrong, like killing the yeast. What do you think about possibly baking this in a bread machine?

Sorry to hear about your bread. I can't remember making this bread....it's almost 2,5 years ago
I don't think you can bake this bread in a bread machine unless the machine has a special program for rye breads. Thanks for your comment Barbara:-))
