Heißt er Georg ? / Is his name George ?

Diese hübsche Haussegensfigur entdeckte ich an der Ecke von Haus Nr 8 am Domplatz von Wiener Neustadt. Sie stellt einen Reiter auf einem Pferd dar, der sich zurück wendet und in ein Horn bläst. Solche Haussegensfiguren waren in Wiener Neustadt besonders in der zweiten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts sehr beliebt und stellten mehrheitlich den Hl. Georg dar, mal mit, mal ohne Pferd. Ob also auch diese Haussegensfigur einen Georg darstellt ? Ich weiẞ es nicht. Aber eher nicht, oder ? Wahrscheinlicher ist, daß es sich um einen Postreiter handelt, der auf eine ehemalige Funktion dieses Hauses als Post- und Postkutschen-Station hindeutet.

I discovered this pretty house blessing figure on the corner of house no. 8 on the plaza Domplatz in Wiener Neustadt. It depicts a rider on a horse turning back and blowing a horn. Such house blessing figures were very popular in Wiener Neustadt, especially in the second half of the 17th century, and most of them depicted St. George, sometimes with, sometimes without a horse. So whether this house blessing figure also depicts a George ? I don't know. But it is more likely not, isn't it ? It is more likely that it is a post rider, indicating a former function of this house as a post and stagecoach station.
