Intercontinental
The Intercontinental Hotel in Vienna across from the City Park presents itself in the architectural style of the 1960s as a feudal bed castle and is, if not a high-rise building, then at least a tall building with 12 floors above the ground floor. For years, there have been plans to demolish the Intercontinental and replace it with a modern high-rise building. But even after several changes of plans, UNESCO is not satisfied and continues to threaten to withdraw the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site from Vienna's inner city if the current plans are realized. I find it interesting that UNESCO awarded this title to Vienna's City at all, despite the incompatibility (see PiP) of the existing, oversized Intercontinental.
