Panoramas
Panorama shots I'm slowly digging out of old collections and stitching together using Hugin (highly recommended). Many of these are not cropped, because doing so would cut off interesting parts of the image (see the Sjonarnipa images for illustration of this). The trick appears to be taking source images as close to 35mm full-frame focal length (24 on the sub-frame Nikon D80 and D7000 used here) …

St. John's Provost Church

In the Schnoor district of Bremen.
This projection is slightly less distorted in that it looks more natural overall, but the distortion in the church's facade is still a little awkward. The pano software seemed able to correct the facade with funhouse-mirrored surroundings, or correct the surroundings but with a bulged facade, or skew both, but not correct both.
Not bad, though, for hand-held source shots. Had I had more than 40 minutes to pack for the trip, I might have remembered to bring my tripod...

From the towers of the Grossmünster.
If you look carefully at the full-sized original, you can see a little green balloon floating by about halfway across the picture.

The color on this one is a little off - the source files were RAWs, which turned pink when batch converted using Irfanview instead of ViewNX2. Oops. Also needs some work where the sky is blown out - the source pictures are each fine, but Hugin apparently can't reconcile so many different exposure levels without intervention.

I'm amazed this worked, considering the bad lens and the fact it involved stitching pics of moving water.

Hrauns near Arnarstapi.
Bad image quality due to a malfunctioning lens. Surprised that Hugin could actually stitch these together, but it did. Wasn't sure it was worth the bother to finish the processing, but the weird dream-like feel of it grew on me.

Pano from a not-as-bad set of IR images (apart from the lens flare).
