Finishing Up
Taking Down the Ladders
Taking down the extra ladders and slides, while the men on the peak finish packing the top layer of grass and whipping the surface with a loop of rope.
Finishing Touches
Several men whip the grass with a loop of rope, shaving off any excess or loose material and smoothing out the surface, while others finish packing grass on the ridge.
Entertainment
Placing Hänglors
Placing the first hänglors on the grass. Hänglors are the long beams, held together with slotted planks across the peak of the roof, which help hold the roof in place. What you can't really make out here is that the peak of the roof is about two feet wide and flat, and the hänglors rest on a pair of similar beams running lengthwise along the edges of this flat area. As the roofing material settles over time, it will slide down the roof a bit, and more can then be added to the peak to make up for it.
