In der Calle Jaime (zwischen Republica und Avellaneda) hat die Künstlerin Ileana Sánchez auf der gesamten Wand der Gasse ihr Markenzeichen hinterlassen: witzige, bunte Figuren von Afrokubanern in verschiedenen Alltagssituationen. Dass diese stets mit dicken Lippen dargestellt werden, ist kein Zeichen von Rassimus, sondern soll im Gegeneil den Stolz auf Kubas afrokubanische Wurzeln ausdrücken.
