Once connected Clifton to the River Avon at Hotwells. Closed in 1934 but was used for various purposes during World War 2 including air raid shelters, a BBC theatre and the manufacture of barrage balloons. Now awaiting restoration.

Founded by Lord Williams and opened in 1570.
Former pupils included John Hampden who died in Thame of wounds received in the English Civil War Battle of Chalgrove Field, in 1643.
Timber-Framed Almshouses

Originally founded in 1447 and re-founded by Lord Williams in 1559 to accommodate six poor people these are now a private dwelling having previously served as a storehouse and tearooms.
'The Birdcage'

Thame, Oxfordshire.
The earliest parts of this building date back to the late thirteenth century. It was originally built as a place to administer the market but it became an inn during the fifteenth century. It remains a popular public house and eatery to this day. During the Napoleonic Wars it housed French prisoners of war. It is reputed to be haunted by the ghost of a leper (Restless Jane) who was stoned to death by Thame residents.
