'The Birdcage'
Thame, Oxfordshire.
The earliest parts of this building date back to the late thirteenth century. It was originally built as a place to administer the market but it became an inn during the fifteenth century. It remains a popular public house and eatery to this day. During the Napoleonic Wars it housed French prisoners of war. It is reputed to be haunted by the ghost of a leper (Restless Jane) who was stoned to death by Thame residents.
