the robin is a migratory bird which normally like to eat on the ground because he especially likes earthworms. He returns early in the spring when the snow is gone. Occasionally, like yesterday, we have a last snowfall and the robin can not find its food on the ground. So, he has to find it at another place like fruit trees. He normally don't like the fruits of the staghorn sumac (Rhus typhina) seen here but, when he don't have choice, he eats them. For it is a necessity to survive.

I love robins - both european and american. They both have wonderful qualities. I find the american version more sturdy, the european more delicate, but both are great. This is a really wonderful photo of the american robin - such perfect composition/depth of field. And thank you for the information with the photo.
