Good to see someone with an enthusiasm for art in public places. I tried to get the Southwark Arts Team interested in recording the local artworks, when I worked for them as a support worker and eventually got a few hours work photographing and recording the condition of as many works as I could find. This followed on from the theft of the Hepworth from Dulwich Park and a couple of other items. This was in about 2007. I didn't come across this fine piece. Is it a recent installation?

If you haven't come across it, there is a detailed survey, made in the early 2000s of 'Public Sculpture in South London' by Terry Cavanagh.
There is shortly (Feb I think) an exhibition on public art at Somerset House.

Best wishes

Thanks for the info, Phil. I don't know of the Terry Cavanagh survey, but I'll look for it. I'll miss the exhibition at Somerset House -- I only get to London once a year.

I agree that there should be a concerted effort to document local pieces of public art. I never saw the Hepworth before it was nicked, but I the bronze of Dr. Salter, his daughter and her cat before the thieves made off with it. Thankfully, it was such a well-loved grouping that the community raised the funds to have the three pieces recast. And I think there's now a sculpture of Mrs. Salter somewhere in Bermondsey.

The Shared is dated 2014. If you scroll to the next photo in my photostream, you can see the plaque that's beneath the sculpture.
