No, Robbe. We were stuck with Polish, Soviet and East German stuff.
Importing a West camera was either improbable or risky (in black market).
Or one had to be an animal more equal than others (as in the Animal Farm). We (ordinary citizens) were just equal.

Ah, Orwell was required literature during "Humaniora" - but in the 60's communistic ideas were not uncommon under the students. (easy when having no possessions ;-)

In Poland Orwell was blacklisted till 1989. Was too close to the truth to be allowed by censorship.
