Happy Fence Friday folks............and onece again I've scraped in at the end of the day, having forgetten it was Friday. I hope you all had a good day and are looking forward to the Festivities. I'm now back from Exmouth and trying to get everything sorted for when my younger daughter and the grandchildren arrive to stay with us for Christmas. I doubt if I'll be around on IP very much until the New Year, so I'd like to wish all my Ipernity Friends all the very best for Christmas and the New Year.

The white birds are Egrets........there are usually a couple of dozen nesting there. We also get Grey Herons nesting most years.

The Ruins of Warblington Castle

16 Jul 2017 4 6 406
Taken from Langstone Harbour near the Mill Pond. The Castle once stood on the site of a medieval manor, but what remains of it now stands on private farmland. It is a Grade II listed building and a scheduled monument. More info here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warblington_Castle , if you're interested.

The Old Mill, Langstone Harbour

16 Jul 2017 11 14 228
Taken at low tide. The Old Mill, now a private residence, was a working mill until WWI. It is made up of three distinct parts, the mill itself built across a creek, built in 1800 – 1832, the mill store, built in 1800 – 1832 on brick piers and the oldest part, an attached windmill, built in 1720 – 1740. Barges could be brought up to the mill for transporting the milled goods away around the coast.

Roughers! 1

Not the best of days for visiting the beach. It was difficult to stand up against the wind. These four images are of the waves hitting the outside deck of the Inn on the Beach, Hayling Island and the ajoining groynes. Bear in mind that the pebbles I was standing on are about 15 feet or so above sea level. If you look closely you can see some of the the pebbles from the beach being tossed up in the waves.

Taken at Southsea last Thursday. Me and the Boss bought an hours parking and two cups of coffee and waited to see if the sun came out. It didn't, but some rays broke through the grey clouds for a short time and I was lucky enough to get this shot. No idea where the sun is now........haven't seen it for ages!

Lepe - Dolphins

10 Jan 2018 9 14 618
Like many other places, Lepe was used for the embarkation and launching of ships and other craft carrying men, vehicles and supplies for onward movement to Normandy to take part in D-Day. The remains of some of the various concrete, brick and wooden structures that were built can still be seen. The dolphins formed part of the pier head used to load the ships. At last it stopped raining! So took the opportunity to drive to Newbury to take some photos along the Kennet and Avon canal which runs through the town centre. You can see tower of St Nicholas' Church in the background.
