Commonly called King's Spear. Taken in one of the public gardens in Southsea, Hampshire.

I took a day off from commenting yesterday after a long, tiring drive home from Devon in horrendous traffic. I'll try and catch up with everyone in due course.

Pleased you reached home safe and well Keith. Apparently it was the worst day for holiday traffic! This is another flower that I don't know, but I love your picture of it. The background is bright and beautiful and there is superb detail in the flower. It's worth viewing full screen too.
