A Bevy of Swans

A Bevy of Swans
Taken yesterday afternoon in Chichester Harbour near Chidham, West Sussex. The village of Bosham is in the far background.

More Swans in the PiP (My wife was feeding them). She had to get away quickly when she ran out of food, as they were chasing her up the bank :-))

Jörg, Berny, Helena Ferreira, Annemarie and 16 other people have particularly liked this photo

So many swans! The blue, green and white looks very appealing and the distant church tower puts it all into perspective. Haha, I can imagine the swans chasing your wife, they are nearly as aggressive as geese;-)

Glad you like this Gudrun. Thank you.

I got between my wife and the swans one point and one started pecking at my camera bag!

Looks idyllic, excellent composition Keith. Hope it was cooler there by the water than here, humid, hot 30+ and no breeze.

Thank you so much Maggie. It was a little cooler by the water, but not much and we didn't stay too long after the swan food ran out.

Thank you Güni..........tbere are always a lot of swans in this location except when the tide is out. Whenever we drive past we can see from the road whether it's worth stopping or not.

Thanks for commenting.

Ha ha! Your poor wife! Nice captures, Keith!

It's always a bit difficult for her if the swans get too close for comfort, she uses a walking stick and can't always get away very fast. Glad you like the shot.

How beautiful, so many swans. For a moment I thought you'd been to Abbotsbury Swannery Keith. Two superb pictures. You must have caught your wife just before she ran out of food for them :-)) It looks a really beautiful place.

I'm still melting in the sun Keith, and can't wait for the temperature to drop next week....they had better be right!!

Thank you Rosa...........there were lots of others out of shot as well. I've never been to Abbotsbury Swannery, but I'll add to my list just in case!

We always carry some Swan and Duck pellets in the car.......but we should have taken a few more with us, they seemed quite hungry.

A lovely shot, Keith! I am beginning to recognise Bosham parish church straight away. I don't need to look at your notes any more to check!

Thank you Andy.........I'm pleased you're getting to know the area, at least partly through my photos.

That’s an amazing sight. That many Swans would need a mountain of food.

It was Colin............but this location always has a lot of swans nearby, except at low tide, but I think they were pretty hungry and we didn't have enough food with us.

No shortage of water or swans here my friend. i bet they could get a little boisterous in trying to get more food from your wife. They can pack a nasty peck, I believe. Well done.

Best Wishes. Herb

Definitely not Herb. They can (and do) sometimes get a little too greedy. Glad you like the shot!

No wives were hurt in the taking of this photo!

The swans look very lovely against the blue water. Were you ready to play Sir Galahad in defense of your wife?
Keith Burton club has replied to Eunice Perkins club
Thanks Eunice. No need for me to play Sir Galahad..........she wields her walking stick better than a sword :-))
