Happy (Memorial) Bench Monday from the People's Memorial, built on the shoreline of Langstone Harbour, Hampshire, which was created as a tribute to the serving members of our British Forces.

It is a beautiful, peaceful place with lots of flowers and benches. Most of the benches have one or more memorial plaques attached to them. The memorial, was conceived by and built by Willie Goldfinch at his own expense. If you're interested to see why, please check out this link

Enjoy your day everyone..........and have a good week if you can. Thanks to everyone who has visited my photo-stream over the last week or so, especially if you have taken the trouble to leave a comment and/or a yellow star.

There are some more images from the Memorial in the PiPs.

I knew nothing of Willie Goldfinch but what a man and what a memorial he created here, A terrific capture and a story well worth posting Keith,

To be honest Roger, despite living fairly near to this part of the harbour, I had no idea this place existed until that day. I shall definitely be visiting again.......it's a lovely place and a nice walk to get there.

Glad you like the photos and link.

A wonderful series of pictures Keith. What a well kept place it looks. The daffodils in your 3rd PiP look stunning. How apt "Hope is a good thing and Hope never dies", is now! Thank you for the link. I would love to visit this place.

HBM and wish you a good and peaceful new week.

A fine bench memorial Keith, and great PiPs.

I wonder what kind of memorials the people of Ukraine will get!

Take care. Herb

HBM!

Glad you like it Wilhelm, but the benches and chairs are there to be sat on. People go t here and have pic-nics and just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. I'm sure that is what our fallen soldiers, sailors and airmen would want surely!

I don't think us humans will ever have a world with no more wars...................but I hope I am wrong :-(
