Lincoln Asylum

Lincoln Asylum
This originated through a bequest of £100 in 1803 from a surgeon by the name of Paul Parnell. The architect was Richard Ingleman.

On the 25 th March 1820 it opened for the reception of patients, with accomodation for 50.

Edward Parker Charlesworth was the visiting physician, and he worked for the reduction of the use of mechanical restraints. which led to the abolition of them in 1838.
