The Showcase
Twenty or so of my favorites from my photographs on ipernity. This set is updated constantly; it has some "permanent residents" but about half of the photographs are constantly changing.
Waiting for a Plane
All dressed up; no place to go....
Leaving Nam, 1971: A bunch of strangers, and a few friends, waiting for the Freedom Bird to take us home to the States. In my experience, Cam Ranh Bay was sand, cheap shacks, and lots of G.I.s. My Vietnam near-year started at Cam Ranh on January 30; it ended at the same post on December 15.
One of my very favorite pictures.
Camera: Minolta SR-T 101. Updated to newer scan 11/27/05. Unfortunately, both the only existing print and the negative are damaged beyond my ability to fully repair them.
Added to Cream of the Crop as my (current) personal favorite picture 1/8/06.
Explored #22 (7/23/2007) on Flickr. Thanks, everyone!
Cathead Beach
Explored! #26 [October 16, 2007] Thanks!
Another dramatic photo of Cathead Bay , at Leelanau State Park near the end of Michigan's little finger. Obviously there are other routes to the bay, but we took the park's trail. The view was incredible.
Unretouched except that I resized it. It's surprisingly better (in some senses, anyway) in the larger size .
Added to Cream of the Crop as my best photo for 2005.
Fawn's Jeep
Before they reorganized the local Post Offices a few months ago, Fawn--who delivers the local rural route--would sort down her mail at our post office. Nowadays she's working out of Grand Ledge, but a year ago she was still based in Mulliken.
This is her vehicle, parked under the tree behind the Mulliken Post Office.
==========
The biggest danger to a daily photo project is boredom. Back in January I briefly discussed my photographic geography . Last June 11 I shot a few dull pix in the yard for 366 Snaps , then moved downtown and did better. But I was getting bored with this everyday stuff.
The day before, as we've seen, I wandered around the local farm country. How about if tomorrow we wander Grand Ledge? And maybe a vacation this week? Please?
==========
This photograph is an outtake from my 2012 photo-a-day project, 366 Snaps .
Number of project photos taken: 26
Title of " roll :" Miscellany, mostly birds
Other photos taken on 6/11/2012: Didn't do a proper Daily Flower Census, but I took a few pix of this pretty rose . Then I got some nice bird photos with the Nikon 1.
We still had the baby raccoon .
Pilings
Snail Shell Harbor, Fayette State Park, Michigan.
Cardinal
A photo a day : 330/365.
That's a pretty severe crop--but look at the detail my new camera can catch.
Relay
Peoria Chiefs second baseman Nate Samson sends the ball to first in the fourth inning of a ballgame at West Michigan's Fifth Third Ballpark. The baserunner's Santo De Leon of the Whitecaps; the toss would not get batter/runner Brandon Timm.
Photo taken 7/30/2007. (Play by play here .)
Burning Bush
I'll be taking a social media vacation, folks. See y' in a few weeks.
Sammy's Banjo
Sammy Shelor of the Lonesome River Band at the 2019 Charlotte (MI) Bluegrass Festival.
173/365
