The Lumber Camp Museum
Built by the CCC at Hartwick Pines State Park. The point, it could be said, is that the park's best feature is a stand of White Pine that was deliberately spared from the loggers.

I've been watching some videos about the Yosemite Sugar Pine Railroad the railroad was fascinating but the devastation caused by the logging

Exactly. One of the members of a logging family saved 47 acres in mid-Michigan pretty much to make that point, near as I can tell. When I was a kid one of those trees was the largest White Pine anywhere, but it's died and is only a remnant of itself.
