First Reformed
The former First Reformed Church in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan. The church is across from Bronson Park. The building on the right is the Kalamazoo County Court Building, and the church (and steeple) beyond First Reformed is First Congregational. First Reformed is apparently not in use; I sincerely hope someone finds a way to keep it in good health.
Please notice the nice garden in the foreground, and the war memorial on the Courthouse grounds. The near vicinity of Bronson Park's pretty classy.
The park's mostly surrounded by churches and public buildings. The churches are all named First--besides the Reformed and Congregational congregations, there are Presbyterian, Methodist, and (just off the park) Baptist institutions around the downtown greenspace. For most of my life there was also a First Church of Christ Scientist, but that's moved and their building's part of the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.
The public buildings, besides the KIA and the courthouse, include the Civic Theater, City Hall, and the Library. The YWCA used to be here, but it's moved and the premises are occupied by Greenleaf Trust, who've done a delightful restoration/reconstruction of the building.
It's a good place.
