Family, viewing Horse
Mother's day, 2000 at Grand Rapids, Michigan: The women in my life get their first view of Nina Akamu's sculpture Leonardo's Horse, which was quite newly installed in the Sculpture Garden at Meijer Gardens at that time. Akamu's horse was based on plans and drawings Leonardo da Vinci completed for a commission he never built.
It was chilly, there was a crowd up close to the display, and we'd really come to view the butterflies. So we settled for this distant view.
Camera: Nikon N90s. As is sometimes the case, this scan suffers a bit because of the fast film I was using that day.
