Maumee

Maumee
Gosh she looked old last Saturday.

Maumee was built in 1929 at Lorain for US Steel's Pittsburgh Steamship fleet as William G. Clyde. In 1960 she was renamed Calcite II, by which many of us remember her. In 2001 she was sold to Grand River Navigation (a Lower Lakes Towing affiliate) and renamed Maumee.

Shot from the Black River in Port Huron. That's Sarnia beyond the ship.

Mark L. Thompson's A Sailor's Logbook is largely an account of C-2's 1996 shipping season, from the perspective of a crew member. Highly recommended.
