Calm sea at evening on the Solent
Brittany Ferries' Mont St Michel approaches Portsmouth.
The large structures to the port side of the ship are forts built to defend the coast from naval attack.

Boat at Deal/Walmer, Kent, England
The beaches of Deal and Walmer in Kent hosted a busy fishing industry for a very long time. Fishing is much reduced now, although it supports local angling clubs and tourism trips.

Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial, Kent, England
At the Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum at Manston, Kent, England. It is a museum dedicated mainly to the Spitfire and Hurricane aircraft that played a huge role in the 'Battle of Britain' in the 2nd World War.
Next door to this is the RAF Manston Museum.
The poem on the statue plinth can be read if this picture is enlarged on screen.
