Named after General Charles Vernon (Lieutenant of the Tower of London from 1763 until he died in 1810) who bought property on this hilly site in 1785. S. Fairfield The Streets of London The GLC blue plaque commemorates Sir Henry Dale (1875-1968), winner of the 1936 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, who lived at Mount Vernon House.
