Frederick Edwards,
This road would have been named in memory of John Locke Lovibond,Senior. Born circa 1808 in Huntspill/Highbridge Somerset, He came to London and founded John Lovibond, Brewers in Greenwich circa 1831.When he retired from the business, leaving it to his sons, who turned it into a Limited company. J.L.L. Senior bought a farm at Crofton Orpington, circa 1872.. This was Starts Hill Farm and Lovibonds Avenue would have been on the site of the farm. He died in 1890 I think that he is buried in Shooters Hill cemetery with some of his relatives.
Oddly enough recently another Road has been named after the Lovibond Company. This time in Greenwich and is on part of the site that the Brewery owned ,just off of Norman Road. This has been named Lovibond Way and lies behind the North Pole Public House. Although I have not been able to visit it, yet. Fred Edwards

Fred Edwards,
Whoops! ,Sorry, but JLL Snr died in 1886 not 1890. His son JLL Jnr died in 1890 aged 59 in Brighton.
