Poor Flea. Earlier this year he had a scary episode in which he was tied up (couldn't move his back legs), sore on his front feet, and was lethargic and just not his normal self. After consulting with farriers and my vet we discovered he was suffering from a perfect storm of toxic poisoning from tree bark he'd been chewing, Cushings Disease, Insulin Resistance, and Lyme Disease. I treated him with alternative methods for the toxicity and Lyme, and we successfully got through that. He was put on prescription medication for the Cushings, and his diet has been altered to prevent any more potential issues. One part of this is limiting his grazing, so he's required to wear a muzzle that limits his grass intake. He's not exactly thrilled.
