trillium sessile
The trillium I found the other day suffered a setback ~ shortly after I'd found it, I noticed one of the leaves had withered to nothing. I was so bummed! I really wanted to see the bloom, because it's different from my other trilliums in that it sprouts directly from the center of the three leaves, rather than on a long stem like the ones in my other garden and the wild variety that grow on the property. I went out to check to see if *maybe* the little plant was blooming despite its injury, and bless my soul! Wasn't there another trillium of the same species not three inches away...in bloom!
