It's not recommended to walk through the flooded sections for safety reasons. It's said that the currents can be strong enough to sweep a person of his feet and into the river.

But flooding like this does open all sorts of opportunities to the hardy and adventurous canoeist to go where it's normally impossible to go, and it's a shame that none can be seen. (A competent canoeist wearing head protection, a life jacket and a wet suit is at negligible risk of injury, freezing or drowning. He only risks finding himself miles off-route.)

Sweep a person "of" his feet? So he ends up footless and fancy free?

What yellow shrubs? You're as daft as a brush sometimes.

Perhaps those greens are all wrong.

I may be, but I don't go flying off the handle.
