There was a beautiful light for the next part of the journey, but I missed loads of good shots, because I kept falling asleep and finding the camera had switched off.

Brave of you to undertake such a journey; it's more than I would, now. Where did you spend the night?

I had planned specific places to stay, but my plans all went awry, because the first bus was delayed by traffic diversions outside Swindon, and hence I missed all my connections, leaving me stranded on a drizzly night in Blandford Forum. Luckily, I found a dry place to shelter and caught up with my bus connections next morning.

Following my dental treatment in Devon, I returned to my usual spot at Lyme Regis and then set off homeward next day. Unfortunately, I was so frazzled from lack of sleep that I got lost in Salisbury and missed the X5 by seconds.

The next bus necessitated changing at Marlborough, where another bus pulled in with Swindon on the front, so I settled myself up top, thankful that I would soon be home.

I was a little puzzled when we seemed to be taking a different route out of town, but it wasn't till we were out in the countryside again that I realised the sun was on the wrong side of me. We were heading back towards Salisbury!

I resigned myself to having to spend the night in the bus shelter at Pewsey, but the driver kindly offered me a lift back to Swindon in his car. So I did get home that night after all.

You must be much tougher than I am. The only time I spent a night by a roadside was in 2018 when my car broke down on a Sunday evening and the breakdown truck didn't arrive until 09:30 the next morning. The police wouldn't let me wait in the car (too dangerous). At least there was a 24-hour supermarket, a public park (with trees and bushes) and a Costa which opened at 06:00 right nearby.
