Good shot and PiP. Always something re-assuring about seeing a heron or two!

What the heck is PiP? I'm not into all these funny abbreviations like HANWE and HFF.

I've never seen two herons together, and don't know if this is a he or a she (or gender neutral),
or whether it's the same one that we see in this spot year after year.

Well for your edification (welcome or not), I have seen 4-5 herons together. But I saw an ipernity shot a few days ago with about a dozen all happily having a heron conference in the treetops!
PiP = Picture in a picture (No, I don't do them but many do!)
HANWE is simply a group, it means 'Have A Nice WeekEnd' ... just for fun.
Likewise, just for fun, HFF = Happy Fence Friday. (Difficult for me, I don't see many fences in Spain or Cornwall! I have to try and stimulate my jaded imagination!).
Don't read anything meaningful into this. Life won't be a flea's kneecap less rewarding if you immediately forget all about them!
Best wishes,
Andy

This one must be a hermit then, unless it's just his hunting ground and the missis lives up a tree somewhere. The ones you saw were likely having an orgy, as they breed in colonies.
